About

I was born in Detroit (The year of The Water Snake).

I moved to my adopted city of Ann Arbor in 1994. I am a tai chi instructor, a long-time member of the Ann Arbor Storytellers’ Guild, a retire special education teacher from Detroit and a self-published author of Haiku Rebellion in Utopia. I took photography classes at Eastern Michigan University in the early nineteen-eighties and one of my photographs was published in the Best of Photography Annual 1989. I believe creativity is art therapy for the soul and I like to formulate my creativity through writing and photograph. I describe my photo artwork as a hybrid of magic realism and childlike wonder. I sometime use shadows to nudge the viewer off balance then I like to add an ounce of Zen chaos for the funny bone. My future photo projects may involve my interpretation of the twelve Chinese zodiac or another book. Wherever the right side of my brain leads my imagination and my camera, I hope my photo artwork will be a surrealist amusement park for the subconscious.
